My site will be based around the Avon Valley, I've therefore researched around that general area.
RURAL LANDSCAPES AREA 14, AVON VALLEY:
- Rural area around the river is within the Bristol/ Bath green belt
- North area is under Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Beauty
MASTERPLANS IN PLACE:
- Bath uni has submitted a masterplan for 50% more academic and residential floorspace- some of this land is greenbelt.
- Southgate, a proposed retail mixed use development put forward by Chapman Taylor Architects is within Bath conservation area and World Heritage Site. It seems to be a in a pretty hideous Georgian style.
- Kingston Mill is a redevelopment from factories to residential buildings with some retail units by Linden homes in Bradford on Avon. Part of this includes a new bridge across the river Avon providing improved access for the town.
